Goya Gumbani has released his 5th album since 2020, entitled Face In The Storm. The LP was recorded in various locations across London and was mixed by OgBloops & Kiina in Echo Ray Studios. It also features additional writers YUNGMORPHEUS, Remy Banks, Fatima & ZekeUltra. The track that we want to shed some light on is 'Ashtray' (18 minutes into the album) featuring production from Kiina and vocals from Swedish-born, London-based singer Fatima. 'Ashtray' has been moulded into something smooth and round with use of minimal percussion, twinkling rhodes-like keys whilst Fatima's vocals are wonderfully reverb-soaked, all of which create a hazy soundscape. Goya Gumbani's vocals are delivered with ease and intention as he ponders on past events and how to move forward; 'learn from the passings...emotions covered in my rags, I'ma keep creepin' and I need freedom'. 'Ashtray' highlights the importance of reflection in moving forward. -Ellie Rose-Davies
